Question for flextimeLV

I know you play the DC so I'd like to know, if a shooter makes his point, then rolls a co7, which wins your DC, do you go back up on him after he establishes another point, or do you wait until the end of his roll? One of the reasons I like the DC is you can win multiple bets on the same shooter.

Hi Spike--
I'm not sure which strategy you're referring with your question, but in general, regardless the darkside strategy I'm playing, when I get beat once, that's it for the shooter. Let's say I travelled two DC's and the third died in the box to a F'n YO. I'm now 'done' with this shooter and accept whatever outcomes I get on the remaining two DC's which travelled. If the shooter throws a CO7 with those two DC's behind, I take the chips returned to me and sit out the shooter's remaining hand, waiting for the next shooter.
Let's say I were playing the 'Mrs Dice Doctor' play and my first DC travelled to the 5. I would then make another DC, according to the rules. If shooter makes point with my two DC's still alive, and then throws a CO7, I'll take the chips returned to me and go back up on him again with another DC and follow the rules. Why? Because he's not yet beaten me in his current hand.
I find the DC as a first move to be less stressful as it avoids all the bloodletting which seems to occur during the comeout. Whether I play the DP or DC as a first move depends a lot on my mood that day. My mood tends to be less tolerating when at a property which allows smoking. When feeling low key, I don't want the player looks and reactions which come when I'm overtly playing against them. Not all of them understand the DC action, and it really confuses them when I clap along to their making points and occasionally say 'good job shooter' when it's all over (sincere).
Other than a F'n YO on the first DC action, what aggravates me most? The string of PSO's which seem to come every session and I'm dying along with the rest of the table, unable to get traction despite playing the darkside. Possible remedy? Play the 'Mrs Dice Doctor' starting from the DP and with single odds. That way, I win one unit for every PSO. So why not play it? Because according to Grafstein's odds table, the starting BR required is over $200 and I'm not there yet, based on 4% of total BR per session.
But I didn't give up just yet. I read and re-read Grafstein's 'True Count' play which calls for single odds and a starting session BR of $80. Sounds damn risky given that you can fire a maximum 6 don't moves on a single shooter (1DP and 5DC), putting all $80 on the table at once, and get 'pick-6ed' Fitzpatrick-style and lose the entire $80 BR on one shooter. I put the strategy to the test over Thanksgiving in Tunica. I think I had four(4) bust outs the entire time, but no wipeout occurred before gaining some 'winnings' from the session (back rack), so I'd be down in the $20-50 range. Nothing scary or discouraging. I ended the trip up $349 playing the 'True Count' exclusively. It felt like another strong play from the Doctor, especially given the ability to lay single odds with a starting session BR in my range.
If you're familiar with 'True Count', then you know it calls for a doubling of your DP/DC bets after getting down in the session and then making a profit. Let's say my starting $80 BR got hammered down to $39 after playing two shooters. On the third shooter I make $15 of it back, so new BR at $54. Rule calls for doubling the next DP and also playing single odds against that double, so out comes a $10 DP with single odds, then a $10 DC with single odds, and so on until a stop-loss occurs (SO/YO) or I'm out of money ($54 used up). Let's say that after all is said and done with that shooter, I recouped another $10, so my new BR is now at $64. Rule calls for another doubling, so here we go again: $20 DP and single odds, $20 DC and single odds. I keep firing the $20 cannons with single odds until I run out of $64 or hit a stop loss. Feels risky as hell and aggressive, but hey, it gets the juices going.
Let's say that initial $10 DP double-action won on the CO 2 or 3. Grafstein says to stack it, not rack it, so that goes to $20. Then here comes another CO 2 or 3, and wow, now we've got $40 sitting there. Tempting to take it down, but no, you leave it up. Shooter establishes point (thank god no CO 7/11), and you gotta lay single odds against that $40 with whatever you have left from the $54. To a red chip player like myself, that's a LOT of chips loaded up on a single number. Again, aggressive as hell, but gets the juices going.
Had it happen. $10 parlayed into $40 on back-to-back CO 2/3, then laid $36 single odds with what I had left (BR $46). Point was a four. I thought, well, surely this is going to work out for me. HA! He hit it hard within 3 tosses.
You take your lumps and stay the course. Again, up $349 driving home to Nashville Saturday.

Thanks, i play the same way, I'll put up another DC on the new point.
Regarding the Mrs Dice Doctor Play with odds, Sam didn't really go into that play too much, would like to know how that works.
True Count Play? Always thought it risky but I think I'll give it a try sometime. Hard to get juices flowing on the back line, LOL!

Almost forgot, glad you had a profitable trip! You obviously won some sessions; how long did you play at a time?

I played a couple hours last Wed night after arrival and got up in the $70-ish range. Took a break in the hotel room and decided to give it another go. Got up another $140-ish within 20 minutes. Tired and not wanting to give any back, I called it a night. No play on Thanksgiving Day. Got started Friday around 11AM and after three hours finished up just shy of $40. Took a break and walked to an adjacent property (GS -> HS). Played another 6-8 hours and stayed even. Ate at the buffet, returned to action, and quickly got up some amount which took me $349 total. It was only 1AM and I should have had plenty more in me, but the smoke and long hours got to me and up the elevator I went, crashed in bed, content to be up. Thought about playing Saturday, but decided against it. Started the I-40E trek home after checkout.

BTW- heading to the 'Christmas Casino' in Rising Sun, Indiana tonight. If they've got any players on their table, I'll give it another go. If no players and I've got the energy, I'll drive up HWY 56 to Lawrenceburg and try the Hollywood. They've been disappointing me lately with their $10 min (get back in the car and drive back to RS), but I'm hoping they hold back on a Thursday night. Dallas at Minnesota could be a decent draw, so we'll see.
Let's see how the pendulum swings tonight. I gotta feeling I could get drubbed on the road at Cincy after having things go my way south of Memphis.
And one last thing. Grafstein says not to shoot the dice when playing the don't. I get a kick out of it, so I shoot anyway, passing on any CO loser or point made. I'll be focusing on 'robin eggs' tonight.

OK, quick recap to last weekend before the OAK/KC game kicks off. I'm playing Murray tonight to start the FF playoff in my work league.
Arrived Thu night at Rising Sun around 1130p to find the table dead, so I left for Hollywood up the road, hoping to find a $5 table. Notta, both tables at $10. So I took my $10 free play coupon and set it on the DC after the next shooter established a point. YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... (you gotta be F'N kidding me).
Head low and shaking all the way back to the car. Drive back to the hotel room at Rising Star and to bed.
Get started at Rising Star around 11a and find a bunch of regulars. I quickly get up over $100. Get the dice a 2nd time and throw a YOOOOOOOOOOOO, so I pass the dice. Perturbed at their own losing and my winning (I guess), next guy says pass the dice. His buddy looks at him like, what? He says to him, "Pass the dice. If he wants to pass the dice, we can pass the dice, too. We can play this DAMN GAME!" Ooooookkkkkk.... so nobody wants to shoot. Like kids we stand there with our thumbs up the ass for about twenty minutes. (crickets)
Well, there was a break in the line and one of them just couldn't pass any longer, "Give me the damn dice." And off we went again. That took us to the mid-afternoon and after getting up $178, I said let's eat lunch at Skyline Chili. Color coming in.
Return to play around 7p and find the recreational gang packed around the table. I settle in the hook and setup shop. Table gets hot, cheering and screaming, smiles all around, and ol' Darkey at the hook is getting knocked around. I blow through four $80 sessions with little to show for it. In shock I'm now preparing myself for leaving home a loser. But I hung in there. "Give me the damn nice," I said in a mocking voice referring to earlier in the day. I load up the point and 3 DC's, knocking off one which got replaced. Seven-out. Ok, that's a start. Round we go, holding even. Get the dice again. I get it done again, SO with money returned, filling the rack. Round we go...mood starting to turn.... less crowd noise... get the dice. Now I'm getting that lost puppy dog look around the table. Don't do that shit again, mister. (Christmas music playing, dealers in elves uniforms). "Even the devil has his day in this goddamn Christmas circus." Thinking as i hold the dice....robins eggs.... BANG!
I drove home up $118.
Karma: huge coyote smacked the left side of my car while doing 80mph just as I crossed the TN border. Took some damage, but it was a rental. Returned it without issue.
Going to Tunica this weekend.

Don't remember seeing a guy with blue skull cap, but will be looking for him next time. Is he a regular?

Was that a Coyote Ugly Coyote or a coyote coyote that hit the car?
Good comeback win.

Years ago we had office in Florence KY. I would drive down and play at either Hollywood or Rising. Table better at Rising but not always open. After two shutouts in a row I bagged it. Enjoyed table when open. Nice vibe to the place. Hollywood put in 16 foot barges and then we closed office. Dont' miss the 16".

A real coyote hit the left front just before the wheel. Can still see his snout and teeth as he bore down to get across in time. He was running all out.
Surprise, surprise, it's ski-season in the Cincy area, so the wife wants to get up there for opening at noon. That's going to put me back in the hook at Rising Star for most of the day. Regulars are gonna be so happy.

But that tunnel of blue light down the ramp takes your mind away from all your worries...like getting born again.
I'll check the Indiana gaming reports come February, but my take is that attendance is low.

Just got back from Rising Star. Wife skied for hours while I sat in the hook. Got up $100 in short order playing 'True Count' at the $120 level using a $5 unit and double-odds lay (almost, $12 6/8, $15 5/9, $18 4/10). BR just over 3k, 4% per session, yadda yadda. Finished the afternoon session up $20 before leaving to get the wife. Returned after dinner and struggled mightily with the first and only $120 session, down below $20 at one point, but fought back to $120 and settled for my winnings at that time ($13), given how my wife wanted to get the 4.5 drive home underway. Add the $5 coupon and it was a winning day at $38.
Consider it a warm-up. Two nights at the Tunica Shoe commence Sunday night.
Don't know if it was the drive or lack of sleep or too much caffeine or 5 hours in the car with the wife, but I didn't have it all day by way of shooting. In fact, first time I touched the dice and held the rifle, my hand was shaking so bad, I tossed the bones back and passed. Dealer asked me what happened, "Get dizzy?" I had one beautiful shot which stuck the dice on the nickel-duece a couple inches apart, but the rest of it was scatter-shot. Started with the grip. Couldn't get a firm grip.
Maybe I need to heed the forum advice and not play on travel days.
