This certainly is not Advantage Play. I think an argument can be made for allocating a small percentage of one's Total Bankroll to other games in the casino, specifically slots. If you decide to go down this high risk/high reward road, I would recommend starting with a small fixed/budgeted amount per trip that you are willing to lose to the high HA. Once it is gone, you are done. I'm guessing most have given in to playing the one armed bandits a time or two.

A slot machine is as random as you can get, but the high volatility rewards you might win could pay off. Not all machines are the same. If interested, try to learn about the various machines that are in production. Much of this information can be found on the internet. They range from low volatility machines which pay in more wins, but much smaller amounts--- rarely enough to cover your initial buy-in. These machines are for pretty much mindless entertainment. Then there are the Mid to High Volatility machines where if you happen to be in the right place at the right time, they can payout decent returns. When playing these machines you have to have a hit and run mindset, the longer you play the higher the chance you walk away with nothing. By limiting the dollar amount you put in, you can preserve your BR and fight another day.

Whether you play the penny slots or the high limit slots is up to you. Keep in mind the lower the denomination the lower the payback percentage. That doesn't mean you can't win on the lower denom machines. Most importantly, be respectful of your BR. Some may decide that slot play just isn't for them.

On one of my recent trips to LV I played $50 in freeplay plus another $40 in a Buffalo Gold machine and had a nice payout, playing down to just under $10 before a bonus round hit.

You've nailed the reason I play slots . . . high volatility. You can put a buck in one and win a thousand. Hard to to that at craps. With that said, I think most of us need to diversify our games in general. Learn to play perfect strategy blackjack and count cards a bit. Learn a decent baccarat strategy. And yes, learn how to beat the roulette games. It's the total winnings at the end of the day that count.

But on a serious point, even as somebody who likes to know all the house edges and what are the least bad bets in the casino, I tend to agree with what BD and H are saying.

Call it fun money,throw away money, whatever.

A small portion of your bankroll for a few pulls won't hurt. It can be good fun trying for that lightning strike of a big pay-off. I tend to have terrible luck when I try, but I give it a small try every trip and it doesn't hurt me. Who knows, it might even get you on the casino radar for a few better offers too.

Wiremonkey - ref. the "Baccarat Battle Plan," it's complete except for a final review and some minor editing. I did this in partners with DiceTrakkr and some other material I'd written back in 2009 needs to be inserted, a few graphics added, etc. and it will be ready. I'm hoping to have it wrapped up over the holidays. Then DiceTrakkr and I will be offering it to you guys at about a $200 discount over what it will sell for on other sites. Once we get to that point I'll give you guys bits and pieces of it here on the forum gratis. Heavy, Tide and Laguna are the best I've seen when it comes to slots. I've seen that with my own eyes, Howard would be there but Heavy can't make him pull 8 or 9 dollars a whack
