It’s Major time - who gets the Golf Action in 2021

Well, all those Tom Brady earned “pizzas” have been resting up for some golf major action. So here we go with the Masters back in its normal spot on the calendar. Hopefully the azaleas are blooming and we’re cashing tickets on Sunday
The books don’t want us parlaying in golf, nor are there teasers, however my approach since moving to Vegas has been to bet the Top 10 or Top 20 lines in combination with a couple of money line picks. This thinking is looking at the Top 10/20 bets to cover a couple of money line plays.
So here goes:
Top 20: Collin Morikawa + 140
Top 10: Jordan Spieth +160; Justin Thomas -110; DJ -105
Money line to win: Justin Thomas +950
Now we watch the line moves and look for opportunities on moving day, DN8R

this is all greek to me. I have never been a gambler and even though i have been playing craps for 5 years i still dont consider myself a real gambler. Some of my friends call BS on that now. Heavys sight was a great place to learn about craps. Where do i learn the sports betting. Please excuse my naivety

I understand as the books seem to make it overly difficult, just like trying to learn craps in a casino. A few decodings: +140 means betting $100 to win $140. -105 means laying $105 to win a $100; minuses are generally on favorites; just like the darkside you lay more to win less as they are the favorite. DJ is Dustin Johnson, the current #1 player in the world and the defending Masters Champ. +950 is also 19 for 2, i.e. 19/2
There are two books I'd start with; that helped me. Granted both are a bit dated and longer than they need to be; but lots of good info. They are Stanford Wong's Sharp Sports Betting & John Patrick's Sportsbetting. Both give you the core info. Wong's gets very analytical; while Patrick's has a lot of his craps money management techniques and really gets into hedges and tactics. There's a ton more on Amazon, but those two give you enough knowledge so then when you go to the Sports Book, pick up the sheet(s) for what ever sports/games interest you and make a bunch of imaginery bets.
The great thing about the Books is you can take a break from craps, sit, have a drink, relax, watch a game, make a couple of bucks, then when rested, get back on a table, good luck, DN8R

Well, I see politically the Masters is on the boycott list now. Things have gotten ridiculous - symbolism over substance. I certainly miss the days when people could separate politics from daily life and sports/entertainment.

Well that Saturday rain delay drowned out Mr Thomas’ chances of even making the top 10 as he played the last 26 holes in seven over par.
Still, Morikawa and Speith came thru, that was tight loss of $1.50 for every $50 bet.
See you in June, DN8R

Speith is caught between his ears. Kind of reminds me of a mini Phil. Phil used to talk to himself constantly..maybe he still does. They both have great scrambling abilities to make great shots from lousy places. Morikawa is a good, sometimes better than good all around player. Putts well, irons, sand..He has it all and showed it enough to win. Will he carry the olympic torch in Japan? Who's betting.

Well I’d think Matsuyama might be ahead of him now for that Olympics honor. Andy North said to Scott Van Pelt on the Saturday night roundup show that should Matsuyama be the first from Japan to win the Masters that it would be a billion dollar boost to his career; not bad for a 29 year old.
