Newbie here! Long Post
I wanted to say hi to everyone and introduce myself.
Im just starting to learn the game and DI. I don't know why I was interested in craps, I think it was a game I really had no idea about and wanted to learn. Plus I always saw people cheering and having a good time at the casino. Which was opposite to black jack tables.
I started to watch videos on YT to learn the basics. I booked a class while in Vegas at Casino Quest. I didn't know anything about DI or any other of the people I would get to learn about later on. My first time at a crap table was August '22. After my lesson I went to Ellis Island and the $5 table. Pretty much broke even but stayed at the table for about an hour or so.
I did throw, just threw it down the table, I think I threw about 6 or 7 times before I seven'd out. That same trip went to play at golden nugget, not good.
After that trip I wanted to learn and play more. Then I found out about influencing. Thats how I stumbled upon Heavy and Axis. I read a few things and thought it was an interesting skill to have.
I continued to play mainly online. Here in Illinois I have a couple of casinos I can get to within 30 min or so. $15 min tables on the weekdays. I played and threw at Rivers by Ohare. Not great results. Horrible money management when I look back at it.
I had another trip planned to Vegas at the end of December and I decided to take a lesson with Casino Quest's dice coach Ronnie. I was hooked, I love learning new skills. Played stadium craps at Treasure island and played at Jerry's nugget. I did not throw at Jerry's nugget. I did not want to throw until I practiced what i was taught in my lesson.
I was already thinking DI was the way to go when playing, it was only reinforced by having 2 DI'ers at the table. I earned some money and learned by watching them and others around the table.
The two throwers were consistent in every throw, the same routine, same landing, the same throw. While friends were across the street from Jerry's blowing their money on strippers, I was earning money because of the two gentlemen at the table. SUCKERS!
I also learned its important to keep your eyes on the dealers. As there were some incorrect payouts luckily an observant players caught it. Being this observant means no drinking while playing at least not heavy drinking.
When I got home from that trip I decided to build a my own 12ft table. Ive been practicing ever since, its been about a month. I started to use Bone Tracker I have about 700 throws on it, excited to use the new one. As the first couple of hundred throws I didn't record properly as I was not using different color dice.
With the new tracker I will be tracking properly from the beginning.
Sorry for the long post. Pumped to be part of the community.
Goal is to take a lesson or two by some real pro's this year and learn from more experienced players. And finally get back on a table and throw properly.

Hi Carlos
Welcome to the group. It sounds like you are on the right track as far as learning and practice. I am 30 minutes away from Rivers casino.

There are some good guys in your neck of the woods. $5 Bill is one. He's primarily a Don't player and shoots from the Don'ts pretty much all of the time. Bill has a very limited bankroll and so he's in and out of the game pretty quickly, with a low win goal. Go in, win $50 - $80 and get out. Repeat it 3 - 4 times a week and you've made $250. Four times a month and you've made $1000. Pick up an extra $12K a year if you don't go off tilt. His pal Americraps is another great shooter. He has a full sized table as well, and he and Bill get together to practice from time to time. I'm sure you could wrangle an invitation to hook up and practice with them sometime when Americraps is in town. He drives a truck and is out of town quite a lot.
If you're going to Vegas on weekends you might check to see if DarthNater is going to be in town the same time you are. Nate is one of our BoneTracker gurus and my main coaching partner. He can hook you up with a private toss class, betting strategy class, or BoneTracker class at his place in Henderson, near M Resort. If Nate's not around I'd recommend getting together with Beau "Dice Coach" Parker at dicecoach.com for a lesson. Nate and Beau are the ONLY guys in Vegas I recommend seeing for a toss tune-up. The guys at Casino Quest do a decent job, but they come out of the GTC camp and teach an old school toss that has several flaws IMHO. The approach we use is much more relevant to today's mircofiber layouts and underlays. Just my opinion (one that's pretty much been proven mathematically and scientifically) but I'm sticking to it.
Thanks for jumping right in and posting. Looking forward to watching your journey.

I will definitely look up DarthNater next time Im in vegas. Looks like I might be in Vegas in June. Hopefully sooner. Maybe make my way to Biloxi as I have a friend who's interested in heading down.heavy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 3:54 pm

Just a warning Carlos. Biloxi is addictive and a lot easier to get comps.

Carlos,
Welcome to the Forum
Definitely check our Biloxi as it is worth the visit. As Grinder points out the comps are better, the minimums are lower; and it’s lots of fun.
I must have read years of trip reports here and finally took the step and went and it was great!! Wish I had gone years earlier
Good luck on your journey, DN8R
