Tub at Tropicana

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

Tub at Tropicana

Post by Buy The Four » Fri Aug 10, 2012 9:13 pm

Hey Board,

Was wondering if any of the veterans could give me some pointers on how to tame the tub at Tropicana. Will be in Vegas this weekend to make some loot before summer ends. A trip report will follow of course. But back to the original question...how do I exploit the tub!?!?!

Just to clarify this for those who may have missed some of the earlier discussion on this game - it is not a traditional 6 - 8 ' tub like the ones that once caught our attention at places like WildFire Casino. This is a mini-craps tub that is more of less shaped like a blackjack table. You sit on stools to play and you have to reach over the chip rack down to the deck to pick up the dice and shoot. In the days of the old min-craps tub at Casino Royale I always liked the third base position. I'd pick the dice up and toss them with a much softer version of my usual toss directly across the table in such a fashion that the dice were square with whichever wall they hit. Clear as mud? I'll have to work on that.

Many of the more successful players I've seen on these tubs shoot from the deck using a wrist flick rather than an arm movement. Just grip and flick. I've seen some damned nice hands tossed that way. The Trop mini-tub seems like it might be a little deep for that type of toss. Try leaning forward, perched on the edge of the stool, in order to get your arm deeper into the tub if you want to try this toss.

Yup. I've played a few of these little seated tubs both in Las Vegas and in small boondocks tribal places. I agree with Heavy about the overhand wrist flick from the deck into one of the flat segments of the back wall. Sitting to the right or left of center is probably the best spot, which side you choose will depend on your preferred shooting arm.

The photo of the new one at Tropicana has higher chairs but also a wider rail and padding. The key is getting your arm and upper body up high and out over the table surface for better motion. Usually you are not allowed to stand but you should be able to find a way to raise your torso up higher by sitting on your legs or standing ever so slightly to lean in to the table...or bring a yellow pages book to sit on.

Some of us have had some outstanding hands on those tubs. It was at Casino Royale after one of them that everyone passed the dice back to me to continue shooting after a 7 out for the first time.

Buy The Four,

Did you ever make it to the tub at the Trop? I will be in Vegas in a week and was wondering if you had a chance to check it out and play on it.
