don't come and place bets

Since I am new to the forum and we are encouraged to use the forum, I have another question. I am in my early 50's and have played craps for about 10 months now as the game was always intimidating to me in the casinos (East Coast). It took my 19 year old daughter to get me started playing on a cruise ship last August and I enjoy the game very much (or should I get out now
). MY question, I know this play is a grind but has anyone played the pass/don't pass on the come out, then lay odds, then play the DC (hedged by the odds) and keep in play only the DC numbers on the outside and place those same numbers on the outside only to grind out wins when #'s hit on the place bets and break even on the 7 out (on random shooters only of course). Thank you and the forum is a great tool and I enjoy the posts. Great job!

It sound like you are saying; a $10 DC bet, it travels to the 4, so you then place the 4 for $10, so in 1 of 2 scenarios you either break-even or you make an $8 profit?
Long Run, not a good strategy. You are at a huge disadvantage on the Come Out, but once the Puck moves, you have a huge advantage. You give up the advantage as soon as you place that number.

There's a reason that DP/DC bets are not contract bets like Pass/Come bets once they travel to a point. Once you get over the hump of the point being established the dark side bets are in your favor. I would not be hedging like that on outside numbers but will often do that if the DP/DC travels to a 6 or 8. A lot of folks will pull the don't bet at that point, which you should never do. So either let it ride and let it play out, or hedge with a place bet on the point to limit your risk.

Have you ever told the persons taking a don't come that has traveled to a point and wants to take it down, to leave it and you will buy it from them.
I have several times and then have a bet, that I have a positive expectation on.
Of course, I don't win on all those bought traveled DC bet, but believe I am positive over all on them.

22Inside, why would you hedge a bought DC? Your taking a bet thats you have an advantage on, and offsetting is with a bet that has a house advantage.

Depends on the shooter. If I'm not feeling the joy with the don't bet on a 6/8, I'll place it. Learned this play from DN8R.

I go along with the $10 DC traveling to 6 or 8. Shooter starts hitting numbers I may lay $12 behind and place $18. You have $22 at risk against and $21 on the number being thrown. Your risk is losing a buck, but win on the 7. It's all based on feeling whether I protect or not. Most often..no.

EaglesDad: Placing the do and don't at the same time is referred to as "the Doey-Don't" and here is a line about a little of it:
https://www.axispowercraps.com/crapsfor ... =doey+dont
Then there is playing the Come/Don't Come at the same time. I watch a fellow play this for big bucks. He was looking to lay the 4 and/or 10 without paying the 5% vig. So if the shooter threw say a 6, both traveled to the 6/no 6 and left them along. IF he got a 4 or 10 from the shooter, then the Come would travel to the 4 or 10, the lay would travel behind the 4 or 10 then he would lay that for like $200 -$800. Oh, yea, he was playing quarters (green). So with a $25 no 4, he could lay $500 to win $250. I was just fascinated watching it. He got Waaaay ahead then goosed his bet and lost his ash. It was fun while it lasted.
On the OH-CM, that is about all I play but when I sense the tided turning from choppy to hot or ice cold, I rest on my stool until I sense the tide turning again. Why? You CAN do well on a hot table IF the shooter doesn't throw a boat load of CO sevens and elevens, that will just kill you. On the Cold table, you will get PSO (point-seven out) and that wacks you also. If you got any more questions, let us know as we love to show off our knowledge of our misguided hobby. There has been a ton written on the OH-CM, some actually by me so use the old search engine at the top. There is not one area of craps that many pages have been written on in this board. sia
